Born in Tours, France in 1969, Hervé Saint-Hélier, starting in 1989 he was first distributed by news agencies SIPA PRESS and SYGMA, distancing himself ten years later from photojournalism in order to invest himself fully in his artistic approach. Since 1999, Saint-Hélier has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. His first personal exhibition was at the Rachlin Lemarié Beaubourg gallery in Paris in 2002 and at the Marlborough Graphics Gallery in New York in 2008 with a project entitled "Journey". His photographs are in multiple private collections, as well as open to the public institutions, including the Carmignac Fondation Museum in Porquerolles, France, and the Société Générale Collection.
Hervé Saint-Hélier submerges us in the heart of a chromatic, oneiric and graphic journey. The poetic abstraction that emerges from the photographs takes us back to the sketch and blur of a haiku. Always capturing reality vividly, this traveling photographer is a bystander bestowed with an eye of intense sensory between tangible and heavenly.
